Taking Care of Your Vibrator

by Cherrie · No Comments

Vibrators often become our best sex partners. They come in variety of sizes and styles to offer us consistent pleasure. They also range in prices, materials, speeds, and quality of construction. There are vibrators that are cheaply made and exquisitely made and each carries a price tag to match. The trick to making your vibrator last a long time, whatever one you choose is proper care: keeping the motor from burning out, cleaning, and storage.

Vibrators run on small motors that often burn-out when left on for a long time. A typical play time of 20 to 30 minutes should keep your motor from burning out.

Batteries also are a major part in taking care of vibrators. When batteries are left inside they often leak and cause corrosion inside the battery compartment. Then the vibrator needs to be thrown away. Batteries should be removed after usage and before cleaning. You should make sure that water does not get into or remain in the battery compartment so there is no chance of rust.

Cleaning a vibrator is a must after every use for your safety and the toys. Proper cleaning depends on the material of the toy. Glass, hard plastic, and acrylic toys can be cleaned with anti-bacterial soap, toy cleaner or even rubbing alcohol. More porous toys, such as Cyberskins need the most care for protection. They often can keep bacteria trapped in its materials. Using warm water with a toy cleaner should clean off any bacteria. Cyberskin toys can often melt other items stored near them; their color can run off onto other items or melt holes through a Jelly toy that is close by. To store the Cyberskin toy you need to dust it with cornstarch and keep it in a storage container, airtight bowl or some type of zip-closed storage bag. Silicone toys can be easier cleaned with soap and warm water or some waterproof ones can even go in the dishwasher.

Always clean your toys and all them to dry completely before storage. Storing them while they are wet can cause them to rot and would need to be thrown away.

Inevitably, vibrators weren’t meant to last forever, but with proper care they can last for many years. The easiest way to keep toys clean is to put a condom over them. But condom or not you should always keep things clean to protect yourself and your toys.
